To remove a door latch, raise the window, remove the door trim panel and water shield. Through the access hole, disengage the rods and unsnap the plastic clips. Disconnect electrical connectors for power locks. Remove screws securing the latch and remove the latch assembly. For outside handle and lock cylinder removal, disengage the clips securing the lock-to-latch rod, remove the bolts holding the assembly, and remove the handle and lock cylinder. The lock cylinder can be separated from the handle by removing a clip or unbolting the connector. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Routine maintenance involves applying a few drops of light oil or lock lubricant to the hinges and latch assemblies of doors, hood, and trunk (or liftgate) every 3000 miles or every three months. Additionally, lubricate the door latch strikers with a thin layer of grease for reduced wear and improved movement. Use spray-on graphite lubricant to maintain door and trunk (or liftgate) locks.
