Removal steps
1. Park on level ground, set the parking brake, wear eye protection and gloves.
2. Open and support the hood, and protect painted surfaces with a towel or fender cover.
3. Reduce washer-system pressure and fluid in the area by operating the washer briefly with the wiper switch or by siphoning a small amount of fluid; place a rag or small container to catch drips.
4. Disconnect the negative battery terminal before touching any electrical connectors or wiring.
5. If present, unplug the nozzle's electrical connector(s); note connector orientation for reassembly.
6. Disconnect the washer hose from the nozzle; expect some fluid and catch it with a rag or container.
7. Release the nozzle retention (commonly a snap-fit clip or spring tab) - depending on design, depress the tab or pry carefully from the underside to free the nozzle.
8. Remove the nozzle and any sealing grommet or O-ring and inspect for damage; discard damaged seals.
Installation steps
1. Compare the new nozzle and any seals to the removed parts to confirm correct match and orientation.
2. If reusing or installing a new grommet, lubricate it lightly with clean washer fluid or silicone grease to ease installation.
3. Insert the nozzle into the hood opening and engage the retainer until it seats firmly (many designs will snap into place).
4. Reconnect the washer hose firmly, making sure it is fully seated and not kinked.
5. Plug in any electrical connector(s) and secure wiring away from moving parts and heat sources.
6. Reinstall any removed trim or hood-liner clips and tidy up the work area.
7. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
8. Refill or top up washer fluid if needed, then operate the washer to test spray function and pattern.
9. Adjust the nozzle aim if required (many nozzles can be gently pivoted) and check for leaks at the hose and seal.
10. Close the hood after confirming proper function and a secure fit.
Repair tip: Use a small plastic trim tool or pointed plastic pick to release snap clips to avoid scratching paint or damaging the nozzle.
