Check the bushings for wear, hardness, distortion, cracking, and other signs of deterioration, replacing them if necessary. Also, check the stabilizer bar links. When installing the bushings, the slit should be positioned towards the top.

For 2008 and later Highlander V6 and 4WD models, as well as 2009 through 2015 RX350 models, the engine/transaxle assembly must be removed to replace the stabilizer bar.

Remove the heat insulator from the exhaust system.

While the stabilizer bar is detached, slide off the retainer bushings and inspect them for cracks, wear, or deterioration. It is also advisable to inspect the stabilizer bar link by flipping the ball joint stud side-to-side five or six times, then installing the nut. Using an inch-pound torque wrench, turn the nut continuously one turn every two to four seconds and note the torque reading on the fifth turn, which should be about 0.4 to 17 in-lbs. If it isn't, replace the link assembly.
