    How to check, remove, and install the fuel level sending unit on Lexus ES300? Posted by Customer

    To check the fuel level sensor, relieve fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the fuel pump/fuel level sensor from the fuel tank. Disconnect the sensor connector and use an ohmmeter to check resistance while moving the float arm. Resistance should be around 110-115 ohms when the tank is empty and 2-3 ohms when full, with a smooth transition in between. If readings are incorrect, replace the sensor. For removal, carefully angle the sensor out of the opening without damaging the fuel level float and disconnect electrical connectors. Remove mounting screws and separate the sensor from the assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal.
