Detach the negative battery terminal cable connection. The procedure starts by removing steering column covers followed by instrument cluster trim panel. Start by removing the cluster mounting screws then pull the instrument cluster near the steering wheel. Before removal disconnect any electrical connectors that threaten to create installation problems. A cloth should cover the steering column before removing the instrument cluster and trim panel from the vehicle. When performing an install you will do everything in reverse of the uninstall steps.

Removing the instrument panel from the ES350 involves complex procedure because of noisy fasteners, highly angled work and numerous electrical connectors that require tagging and must be disconnected. For reassembly, it is advisable that you carefully take notes about where each component is placed and the securing method used during removal so that it can be reassembled. It is not required but removing both front seats will give you more working space and a reduced chance of damaging them. First break the negative battery terminal, then take the dashboard trim panels and the center floor console off. Next, pull the instrument cluster free and glove box, but also take out the lower side console trim and remove the corner trim as well, first. Remove the passenger's side airbag, and remove its mounting fasteners, as well as the audio unit and air conditioning control panel. If the vehicle is equipped, disconnect the driver's side knee air bag as you remove the driver's knee bolster. To uncover the reinforcement tube mounting bolts, pry off the end cap trim panels; then remove the bolts keeping the steering column in place and lower the steering column away from the instrument panel. Unplug and mark several electrical connectors, and then pry up the speaker trim covers and defroster trim panel to unplug the optical sensor connector. First, remove all fasteners securing the instrument panel to the body, lift and push the panel away from the windshield and further out through the door opening, preferably pull it with assistance. Remove the fasteners securing the tube through the door opening, disconnect any interfered with electrical connectors, detach the wire harness, and remove the tube if the reinforcement tube is also being removed. If removal is performed, it is then reversed and the processes are reinstalled in the reverse order.
