This mode rotates the nut inside the rear caliper piston, allowing compression for new pads or brake disc installation. An alternative method is to unplug the parking brake actuators' electrical connector, grounding one terminal with a jumper wire while applying battery voltage to the other terminal, closely monitoring the piston to prevent outward movement (parking brake engagement). Ensure proper torque when reinstalling the caliper bolts, depress the brake pedal firmly to engage the pads with the disc, check and top up brake fluid as needed, and thoroughly test brake operation before returning the vehicle to normal service. For 2016 and later Lexus models, apply and release the parking brake multiple times to activate the caliper pistons and align them correctly during reassembly.
