The procedure outlined applies to both front and rear brake pads. It is recommended to replace pad shims and wear indicators when replacing pads. Begin by removing the cap from the brake fluid reservoir. Loosen lug nuts, raise and secure the vehicle on jackstands, blocking the opposite end wheels. Remove the wheels and work on one brake assembly at a time. If machining is needed, follow relevant instructions to remove the disc along with the pads. Use a C-clamp to push the piston back into its bore to create space for new pads, taking care not to overflow the master cylinder fluid. Wash the brakes with brake cleaner before disassembly. Remove the caliper and hang it with wire. Remove upper and lower antisqueal springs if present. Remove outer and inner brake pads along with shims, noting their arrangement. Inspect and replace pad support plates if necessary. Transfer wear indicator from old inner pad to new inner pad. Install support plates, inner and outer pads, shims, and antisqueal springs if equipped. Clean and grease sliding pins, reinstall them, and attach the caliper, tightening the bolts. After completion, depress the brake pedal to engage pads with the disc. Check brake fluid level and add if needed. Thoroughly test brake operation before resuming normal vehicle use.
