Lexus 13408-20010 Pulley, Crankshaft

After checking balance shaft endplay, the balancer shaft gear-to-crankshaft gear backlash should be checked at four indicated locations.

Locking pliers should be used to hold the number 2 shaft from turning.

The balancer mounting bolts should be loosened, 1/4 turn at a time, until they can be unscrewed by hand.

The remainder of the installation is the reverse of removal.

Remove the bolt from the front of the crankshaft. A breaker bar will probably be necessary since the bolt is very tight. A puller base and several spacers can be mounted to the center hub of the pulley to keep the crankshaft from turning as the pulley retaining bolt is loosened. Install the socket over the crankshaft bolt head before installing the puller, then insert the extension through the center hole of the puller.
