Lexus 29300-31010 Pump Assembly, Vacuum

The brake vacuum pump is installed at the back of the right cylinder head in the Lexus RX300, RX330, and RX350. Start by loosening the left front wheel nuts, jack up your vehicle, and set it carefully on jackstands before you do anything else. Leave the power off at the car's battery negative terminal, remove the left front wheel, and unlock the plastic covering below the wheel. Take off the lower engine splash shield and empty the engine coolant, then take out the air filter cover. Disconnect cable on top of transaxle and unclip from mounting place, then remove tubes for breather and PCV system. Lift up the heater hoses and release them from their holding place at the pipe. Then, untighten the clamps and pull out the hoses from the vacuum pump. Unplug and release the wiring cables, then free the harness retainers. Pull the power harness gently away from the vacuum pump. Take all the vacuum pump mounting bolts out using proper tools, and sliding the vacuum pump to the rear of the cylinder head. If there are any oil leaks on the pump or if the O-ring gets damaged, you need to replace all components together. Before connecting the new pump, put a thin layer of engine oil on both pump's seals and the opening in the cylinder head. Combining the pump's coupling with the groove at the camshaft's end, push the pump in. Begin putting home the bolts, one by one, until they reach the exact torque required. After that, simply undo everything you just did when taking it out. The brake vacuum warning switch is located on the front part of the brake booster. To reach the switch, remove the cowl panel, disconnect its electrical connector, then make a note of where the connector connects back onto the switch. Loosenly lift the warning switch out of the grommet in the brake booster by prying without harming the grommet. Insert the brake warning switch into the booster, making sure its connection faces the right way around: look for the clock on the boost part, and point the switch connector to the 11 o'clock mark when you fit it on top, or to 5 o'clock when you install it on the bottom half.
