The crankshaft position sensor (CKP) is responsible for determining the timing of fuel injection and ignition on each cylinder. In four-cylinder models, the sensor is located under the timing belt cover, while in V6 models, it is mounted outside the cover above the crankshaft pulley. To check the sensor, disconnect the electrical connector and use an ohmmeter to probe the terminals. If the test results are correct, there may be an issue with the harness or the PCM, which should be diagnosed if necessary. Removal of the sensor requires removing the timing belt cover on four-cylinder models and the inner fender shield on V6 models, disconnecting the electrical connector, and removing the bolt to detach the sensor. Installation is the reverse of removal.

The camshaft position sensor affects the position for constant fuel injection in each cylinder. To remove the rear CMP sensor on V6 models, start by loosening the wheel lug nuts for the front left wheel. Raise the vehicle, remove the wheel, turn the steering wheel right, locate the sensor between the transaxle bellhousing and stabilizer bar, and then disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the mounting bolt securing the sensor and carefully extract the sensor from its position.

After disconnecting the battery cable, proceed to disconnect the electrical connector from the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor. Once disconnected, remove the sensor mounting bolt to allow for sensor removal.
