If the brake drum is damaged, you should inspect it for cracks, score marks, scratches, and hard spots. If necessary, you can resurface the drum. However, if it is worn beyond resurfacing limits, it should be replaced.

If the lining material thickness on the shoes is worn down to 1/32-inch or less.

Built-in wear indicators emit high-pitched squealing or scraping noises when the brake pads wear down to a certain point. This noise serves as a warning, indicating the need for immediate pad replacement to prevent damage to the brake discs.

With the assembly done, install the brake disc and use three wheel lug nuts to secure it. Remove the hole plug from the disc and adjust the parking brake shoe clearance using a tool or screwdriver until shoe-disc contact prevents disc turning. Back off the adjuster by eight notches, then replace the hole plug, ensuring the shoes don't drag on the disc. Install the caliper mounting bracket, followed by the brake caliper, and ensure that the bolts are properly tightened.
