Early ES300 editions were built on stamped steel Control Arm pieces which proved strong but suffered from rust, so later styles among Lexus were designed with cast iron and lightweight cast aluminum styles, which modern versions of the Lexus carry for corrosion resistance as well as reduced unsprung weight which sharpens ride comfort. - Q: How to remove and install a control arm on Lexus ES300?A:Use wrench to loosen wheel lug nuts on the side that will be dismantled, lift the front of the car, hold it tightly with jackstands and take out the wheel. Separate stabilizer bar from control arm. Remove balljoint retaining bolt and nuts. Use a prybar to separate control arm from Steering Knuckle. Unbolt two bolts holding the control arm at its front end on the engine cradle. Remove a bolt and nut attaching the control arm at its rear part to the engine cradle. Remove control arm. Check if control arm is straight. If it is bent, replace it; do not try to straighten it out. Inspect bushings; put in new ones if they are cracked, torn, or worn out. Installation is in reverse order of removal. Lastly make sure that all fasteners are tightened as specified in torque table supplied by vehicle manufacturer . Put on wheel and tighten its lug nuts ,allow vehicle down and finally torque down lug nuts .This may require a front-wheel alignment check which should be done after this work has been completed as necessary.
