Wrench off the rear wheel's holding nuts, lift the back of your car with jackstands, block the front wheels securely, then remove the wheel. You must make sure you fully release the parking brake before you should take off the
Brake Disc. First, take out the park brake shoes. Unhook the park brake lever at the same time. Having removed two bolts from the cable cover plate, release all cables from their mounting points. Drill through the exhaust pipe at an angle and let it down. Undo the heat shield with the exhaust disconnected so you can reach the clamps holding the cable. Get to the cable anchor point by walking the cable backward, loosen its clamp bolt, and ease out the cable tube. Hold down the cable end with locking pliers. Unclip the holder at the cable's far end and write down how the cable and mounting are arranged. To separate the cable end from the equalizer, place it into the gap at the top of the equalizer and move it out. Take out the bolts holding the floor crossmember in place for Lexus cars, then push the crossmember up to reach for the equalizer. You undo installation in reverse, then adjust the parking brake to finish. Turn off the parking brake, pull out the center console first, then use a wrench on both the nut and locknut to undo them and take off the parking brake cable at the control lever. Pull extra cable out from under floor by removing and pushing out two bolts from cable flange. Turn flange 90°, then slip flange through floorpan hole. To put the parking brake in place, apply a thin layer of grease to the cable end that moves against the equalizer part, then you adjust the parking brake wire. To take apart the cable, loosen the two nut bolts at the rear of the turnbuckle and remove them, then twist the turnbuckle off the front cable hook. With VSC Lexus models, unscrew the yaw rate sensor from the car's console to reach the cable. Unplug its electrical connection while leaving the sensor attached, remove its two floor-mount bolts, and keep the sensor with the bracket in place. Before you can reach the parking brake pedal bracket sub-assembly, take out the driver's kick panel, knee bolster, and knee bolster reinforcement. Moving the adjuster and locknut on the pedal side while pulling the cable free through a locking tool at the parking brake pedal assembly. Take off the carpet in the middle distance to find the clamps that hold the cable onto the floor. We install it in the reverse order we removed it, then adjust the parking brake afterward.
