Usually V6 engines require using wrench which rotates tensioner pulley away from belt hence releasing tension thus removing it. Before installing a new belt lock the tensioner using dowel pin or drill bit. Therefore properly route a new belt over one more pulleys making sure that it is centered on each pulley as well as adjust its tension. Take out drivebelt if drivebelt tensioner needs replacing then take out mounting fastener(s). Install a new tensioner ensuring that locking pin seats into housing correctly at last insert drivebelt properly to ensure that it is centered on the pulleys.
