When changing the 2004 and newer Lexus compressors, experts recommend replacing the receiver/drier too - except in the 2009 and later RX350 series. Only professional auto A/C experts should get rid of the cooled gas from your system. A first task is removing the battery's negative cable. Unplug the drivebelt from the compressor and swipe away the splash shield beneath the engine bay if your car has one. Unplug both compressor wires and remove the air conditioning pipes, then unscrew the compressor bolts to pull it free from your car. Follow the instruction manual steps on how much oil to add before you install either a new or rebuilt compressor. Reinstallation works in the opposite way; add new O-rings designed for this job, then grease them with refrigerant oil. Let professionals from the shop empty, recharge, and check for leaks on your unit.
